Metrology and Calibration, Customer Management lessons
I only know it sounded cool and unique. So what does Metrology and Calibration really mean?
It means (Searches for discarded Physics textbook and flips to measurement page) Back to the old school.
When I finally found out what it really means, I was like, "Oh no!!" Mr Ng, our lecturer was like, "Hey, you all pass Physics or not?" seeing as our class was rather slow to respond. Honestly, I forgotten that I used to fail Physics up until now, that is. (Reminded of Mr Lim)
This module is all about the science and practice of measurements. Honestly, what on earth has this got to do with Logistics? Well, it sure is Diploma Plus.
At least, it's still better then Maths. And I was just looking at the protractor the other day. Thanks for the largest hint ever.
Hmm, the highlight of today's event was that Vincent actually caught a TREE LIZARD that was found outside the classroom. And when he held it, dangling by it's tail, most of the girls shriek and two of them hid behind me while I was amused.
And back to the lesson, I nearly cried because I wasn't sure in using vernier calipers and was the slowest. The damn lecturer went, "Huh? So slow?" and demonstrates how to do it. It is so not my fault that I am weak in this area as my practical wasn't even high.
Felt like just snapping at the damn lecturer.
Anyway, this module's lecture was conducted by another lecturer whom recognised me from be the OIP batch. I was like, "Huh? But I didn't really see or know about you".
I still need to return to school to work on the movie maker tomorrow. Well, fight another day, really.
Talk about Customer Management. The 嘟嘟糕 (Du du gui - A delicacy that I am rather fond of) store in Chinatown really pissed me off somewhat.
Firstly, I felt unsettled when my grandmother went to place the order and she just say to 'pay up' first. I felt that way because I instinctively knew of a possibility - that the store owner would forget about the order (unintentionally) and could claim that we never pay her.
True, 2 bucks isn't a lot. But the point wasn't about the cash but the way she ran her business as well as the possible outcome.
Another reason she pissed me off somewhat is because of the waiting time and the fact that she served another customer that arrived after us first.
My grandmother had specify that we would take a walk around as these treats generally take awhile to be cooked. But occasionally, I would chance at the store owner to see what she was doing and that's when I saw her serving customers who arrived later but had waited for the treat in front of her.
I was right. The store owner did forget about our order. What irks me even more is that she took a long time in the midst of so many customers and had to man 2 stores so I was wondering: Why the hell could she not get a HELPER. A part-timer would be a cheap and reliable option.
When my grandmother casually struck up a conversation about the waiting time, I replied rather loudly, my intention being for the store owner to hear, "等太久了,等到我不耐烦." (I waited too long. I am irritated by the waiting time already.)
I think the person got flustered as she just quickly gave the treats. I went with my grandparents without looking back.
I acted quite out of character huh? But honestly, I was already assuming the worse case scenario when we went back to find the du du gui store. I was still rather laid back and not in any aggressive mode at all. At least, not until that store owner irked me by letting us wait too long.
I learnt that customer relationship management is indeed vital to any organization. Seeing as this has happened to me, i do hope that vendors, small scale ed to large firms, will bear in mind that customer satisfaction is of priority and making them feel pissed off means loss of potential sales and customers.
I am so thankful I have at least covered this in my modules. Suffice to say, I am not that experienced to critique much but, I am a person who gets pissed off easily as well as being rather impatient even more easily therefore, I tend to act before thinking.
I just hope that accidents don't happen when I go shopping.
