Feeling the dark side

On the 30th November, was my brother's birthday. I, as an insensitive sister, got him nothing. Yea. Sue me... If you ask me, what's the point of celebrating the fact you are getting older anyway? More stress? More responsibilities? Less fun? More white hair? Tell me why la?

I just pestered dad to send me home after I had my fill at the chalet to sleep the night away after the whole jam thing.. I will elaborate more on that since the rain pisses the hell out of me.

The rain was so freaking heavy that I looked up and was able to see the sun peeking out from the west side when I was in the car. In fact, it was so heavy that puddles on the road were splashed on the car window much to my amusement. Even dad, who went out to get some newspapers,came back drenched.

What irked me in such a bad weather is that it has with the combination of the jams on the expressways. The formula (1+1=4) would apply here. (Thank you CL) I mean, it is bad enough that it's raining on a PEAK period to go home. What made it worse was really the jam that meant I was stuck in the car for 1 hour plus. 我的天啊！！杀了我吧！！

Then yesterday on the 1st December, WISP conducted the 'Dialogue in the Dark'. What is it? Lols, It was so damn fun really!! The idea is to give you a sense of being blind and to rely on other senses when one loses sight.

What happened yesterday was that our fashionista of a WISP lecturer came on the dot and yet, she had forgotten the key. Typical of her already. The best part was that she forgot that today was supposed to be our session for the 'Dialogue in the Dark'.

We went down late thus, even when cutting the whole experience short, it still cuts into our time meaning that we had no time for lunch before ITI. All I had to munch on was a $1.50 cookie from that event.

It was pitch black even with my eyes wide open and well, using my hands and cane was really fun for me. Our guide, Calvin, is born blind and thus, is able to lead us just by our voice. Any instructions were passed verbally.

You know, more then ever, I admire these people for being able to adapt in a world of darkness while we merely take our senses as a gift and take it for granted. All along, I felt lucky in how my lifestyle has been, it helps that I have a 'handicapped' brother and thus, my view is shaped.

Since we were early, (our cuckoo lecturer sending us down late) the staff there allowed the group that booked at 11 to enter first. What did we do? Play 'blind' games.

The first game was to partner up up and then to blindfold one and give the other a picture. The blindfolded one is to draw the picture basing off the description and aid of their partners. LOLS. It was hilarious to see the end results..

It was followed by everyone being blindfolded and and fixing a jigsaw puzzle. Even by 15 minutes and with some guide, we were still not done lei. Upon removal of blindfold, it was done in less then a minute. Predictable huh? We are so cute.

The last game was pretty much the same with the first but this time, we are picking (literally) 5 safety pins in a bowl of rice. Everyone took some time because the pins had the same texture as the rice grains and can only tell the difference after we filter or grab the pin head.

I and Meng 姐 ended the game fast and was the first pair to be done because... わたしわ lucky des. How so? Well, I just scooped the 2nd time to have 4 pins in it straight away. Still, it took me a long time as I had to filter slowly...

O god. My computer hates me or something today on the 2nd December 2010. I mean suddenly a scam of an annoying spy ware just 'denied' me access to all my files and I spent my time trying to fix it to no avail. To make matters worse, I could not hear what the lecturer was saying resulting in me skipping out on learning for that lecture.

I hate the F***ing spy ware/virus. Then, to dampen my mood, it started raining when I was on my way to BF's place. Oh by the way, thanks to my somewhat psychic (LOLS) BF (Yes, 我向你道谢。。。) the matter was resolved. O my god, think I can die if my laptop have to crash in the last semester before common test some more....

Then it was class pictures day today as well. LOLS. I think it was an incomplete one and we are to gatecrash with the other 3 classes to be a 'full' class. 全部的人都穿黑。。。I think we like some mafia gang again for tomorrow's pictures.

The photo taking was epic because Everlyn, Huay Leng and me were first to arrive on time while the others were not here, some went to canteen, others to I dunno. Ended up with me calling Lee E to hurry the others as the 'director' is not to be kept waiting.

After the photo taking, went over to Canteen 4 alone since everyone else moved off and was about to sit sown when I bumped into Mr Yeo. So it ended up with me having lunch with my GLM lecturer. Of all the 老师缘.... I am seriously.... LOLS.

Went to class for SSP which will be touching on DOES (repeat and refresh much?).

I am seriously resigned to the fact that people I am more closer with tends to be separated from me in one way or another. It's like fate keeps introducing new people in my life while keeping my old friends at bay?? (Lols, I tend to try and bypass this rule) Haha, I am quite used to it since I will always be a lone wolf among the crowd.
