I keep trying...
2nd day of work and it appears that I am around 7 minutes past 9 due to traffic conditions (Dad was driving me there).
I changed into full uniform and got onto the floor as I was further reminded on the settings for the Breakfast Gallery by Hafeez who taught me that everything on the gallery goes with fork and knife. Only when you serve French Toast then will you add on the spoon because of the side dish.
Plus, Everything on the gallery before the American Breakfast section entitles guests to a juice of their preference or premium coffee for $2. For $3, they get juice and premium coffee. I am already very blur lol.
And I still have to remember the "Soup of the day" as well as the "Brew of the Day". Namely, "Minty Pumpkin Soup" as well as "Saffron Sea perch". For the brew, it's "Kenya AA" and "Ethiopia Herra (Mocha)"
For me, I was clearing a table when the guests at table 1 called for me. Best prt is that it's only 30 minutes into my shift.
Lady: I want a black coffee.
Me(never forget, I am inexperienced and have no order pad yet): (flipped the gallery to the beverage section) Well, Erm, then, would you like to try our brew of the day? It's, (shows the picture), Kenya AA and Ethiopia Herra(Mocha)
Lady : I'll have the Mocha then.
Me: (Turns to gentleman) Sir?
Gentlemen : I don't feel like having coffee. What do you have that is non-coffee?
Me: (turned the gallery to the 'Blends') Well, we have these." (shows)
Gentleman: This one. (Points to Matchcha Kiss) What is it?"
Me: (smiled) Oh! It's actually green tea with red beans in it.
Gentleman: I'll have this then. Thanks.
Me: (reach out for gallery and report to Aishah who was watching)
The above is not a script, It really happened. So much for Vinaya who went, "Darling, when they approach you, say, Wait, I'll get my colleague to assist you." Diaos. I am so thankful that I actually read the gallery before serving this guest or I will be stuck.
Ok. The tray is now my 'best friend' or so Paul (Batista) made it sound because, I am bad in tray balancing but catching on fast. I even managed to greet out loudly some-more...
Aishah taught me the table settings for Lunch time which I learnt. Hafeez kept calling me each time the bell (Food's done) rang and presented me with each plate teaching me the names of the dishes such as , "Banana Salmon, Chicken Breast Percilli(spelling) sauce."
Honestly, who wants to try our coffee laced with Wasabi? I am not even kidding, Magic Dragon is a tea ok?
My only downfall seem to be the greeting part and the tray part- namely, balancing it as well as holding it too near the guests.
The waitress part was really more difficult because, I didn't know that the drinks ordered had whipped cream on them and I had to go back twice to ask about their preference to whipped cream. Zul, my buddy, smiled and corrected me again and again. "Go take the marble cheesecake( worth $4.80) and what's the setting?" "Pastry fork!" I answered as I headed to the side station. "Get 3. In case the guests are sharing." Zul explained after I ask her why.
Well, the gloves are really difficult to take out (wear gloves to take the cake out) but I had help from Aishah who's mending the counter.

Oh yea. I also got to drink an ice latte and read the gallery in my free time. There's still a lot of thing I don't know but I can safely say that Swiss Kiss has whipped cream plus some alcohol in it.
Oh yea. To cap it off, I saw Mr Dominic Sim, my ex Social Studies teacher, on the MRT boarding from Payar Lebar and getting off at Simei. He only saw me when he got off so I waved him goodbye. I also met my mum and we took the shuttle bus home together.
