Warehouse visit
Today went to school at 10 to hear about presentations about MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and the different storage systems. Going to die la. Thank god no exam or anything on this one.
Anyway, we assembled pronto and off we go..
Plus side, most of us turned up and so, in short, we really are obedient lambs. Negative side, Hui Ping and Meng 姐 both 丢下我不管了, or more like, "Eh? Vivian lei? Like that also can one sia" Pikaa~ Wroof
Then the pictures that says 1000 words... in our case, make it 1,000,000 words.

A pity that Sushan is always missing whenever we take class shots.
Our first warehouse was CROWN. We split into many groups to visit all 5 stations to get to see the various truck lifts. I thought I will not bore others with the boring pictures and I have only 40% plan of working in a warehouse and all so... No pictures since I am lazy to take them.
The first stop that my group went to was... errr... I forgot but it all had Trucks spelt somewhere. Anyway, the people demonstrated the truck and we hesitantly asked for a demo. Well, needless to say, an all-girls group who would be willing to go first?
In the end, I sighed and just went up. The guy looked at me and went, "You are the woman?" I gave him the "Huh?" and defeated look and he went, "I cannot say you are the man ba?" I was like, "Oh, right."
It was fun to be lifted 5 meters off the ground. Honestly, my heart was pounding when I looked around at the height but soon, I pretty much got used to it. I never liked the part whereby the lifting fork had to jerk each time it stretched a certain distance but other then that, COOL!
When I went down, I was bouncing around like a hyper bunny. It was super fun!! And needless to say, Hwee Peng tried it out too by taking a digital camera up with her for some shots as per request.
Anyway, this is the ending part of the first warehouse whereby I just shot photos of Meng 姐 trying out the WAVE (That's the truck la)
As you can see, she is being briefed on what to do. For WAVE, it is really sensitive in terms of touch. It will move only when a person's 2 feet are on the sensor and 2 hands also on the bar. If one part of the body is not detected by the sensor, it ceases to function.
And this is when Meng 姐 is at least 3-5 meters high up. It's fun for the first volunteer huh?
And here's the fun part, the people there went into some joke with the WAVE.
Ok. Then we left after getting some souvenirs from this warehouse and headed to the next one- CATerpillar Logistics.
And one of the chief customer (80%) is Mercedes Benz. Yes, this 3PL(3rd Party Logistics) provides components of the car parts for Mercedes and Chrysler(or however it's spelt). Not bad... Large warehouse too.
Did I mention the fact that the forklift drivers are so good that they can literally 'drive' the truck at speeds of a new car driver while loaded with pallets of components? Ha... Other then that, I am more afraid that the stacked goods would topple on me.
I realised that being in a warehouse isn't so bad because I am used to it but the still, noisy and dusty environment needs some getting used to ba. Overall, it was extremely fun.
Then break for lunch and whereby, me, Hui Ping and Zhang Meng ate lunch with Mr Tan who discussed about going to 云南(China) for a visit. I too wanted to go can?

Person A: What do you do when you are at a certain height and suddenly the controls on the truck don't work? (Climbs into WAVE to operate it to a certain height)
Person B: Pass your keys. (Person A tosses down his keys)
Person A: Always bring a spare key la.
Us: (Laughing)
Person A: No no, just stay that way until you spot someone in your direction and yell for hep.
Person B: See, there's a box under the truck (Pulls out the main controls and starts operating it)
Person A: (Still stuck and mock yawns)
Person B: 喂! Not working la. I think you need to have the keys in the main la.
Person A: (Inserts key in and is lowered down) Ta-dah!
